Practical Nurse Program
Practical Nursing Diploma Program
In the PN program, students will learn and demonstrate an understanding of personal and professional ethics, effective communication with members of the health care team, patients and patient's families; students will learn medical and surgical procedures performed by practical nurses, care of the elderly, care of patients with psychological disorders, care of patients who have surgery, care of patients in all stages of human development. Students will learn to care for the patient’s emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being and conduct education for disease prevention.

Applicants must meet the following requirements before being admitted:

Be at least 18 years old.

Pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100.00.

Driver’s License and Social Security Card.
-
Have a high school diploma, GED, transcript.
-
Pass Entrance Exam with a score of 70% or higher
-
Have a personal interview with the School Director.

Submit a signed enrollment agreement.

Applicants, for the Practical Nursing Program, must have the following documents before first day of class:

Level II Background Check

12 Panel Drug Screening Test Results

Applicants, for the Practical Nursing Program, must have the following documents before clinical rotation:
-
Medical report attesting to good health.
-
Provide proof of negative PPD within the past 6 months or chest X-ray within 1 year.

Proof of immunizations: Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis B series, Varicella and Influenza titers during flu season.

Program Objectives
The program will prepare student to provide nursing care to clients in hospitals, nursing homes, home healthcare agencies, and other areas in healthcare. Upon satisfactory completion of the program the graduate is eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing. Student must apply, take and pass the State of Florida Board of Nursing Licensure Exam to be state licensed. The Florida Board of Nursing also requires a criminal background for all applicants seeking licensure. Individuals with criminal background checks may not be eligible for licensure or employment. State of Florida licensure is required prior to obtaining employment in this field.
Program Description
Students will learn and demonstrate an understanding of personal and professional ethics, effective communication with members of the health care team, patients and patient's families, student will learn medical and surgical procedures and skills performed by practical nursing, care of the elderly, care of patients with psychological disorders, care of patients who have surgery, care of patients in all stages of human development, assist patients with psychological and social growth, assist with rehabilitation, nutrition as part of healing, knowledge and understanding of disease and its process, signs and symptoms of illness and well-being and education the patient and their family. Caring for the patient’s emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
